About The Society

The Nigerian Sport Horse Society is the independent membership body for Nigerian sport horses. It owns the rules and keeps the national Studbook as its register.

Principles

Society, Studbook And Members

The Society governs, sets the rules and recognises breed societies under its published framework. The Studbook records horses in Register A Foundation, Register B Main and Register C Recorded, linking microchip identification, DNA parentage and lifetime passports. Members include owners, breeders, clubs and farms who enter horses.

Independent Board

The Society is governed by its own Board, independent of every breeder, owner and sponsor.

Published Rules

Rules, criteria and fees are published in full before they take effect.

Equal Treatment

Founders and sponsors are bound by the same rules and pay the same fees as every member.

Member Control

The registry moves to an elected board once membership opens.
